Earn Your Stripes is an inclusive skills development programme aimed at supporting the next generation of wildlife champions.

This is a partnership project between the charities Scottish Wildlife Trust and Scottish Badgers. Anyone can ‘Earn their Stripes’ by completing four virtual modules. The project was developed when we identified a gap in provision for young people aged 16-24 who were facing barriers to getting involved with the environment sector.

Thanks to funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, we have produced a suite of supported virtual learning modules focusing on:

  • Skills development
  • Championing wildlife
  • Gaining transferable skills to help young people thrive both in work and life.

Modules are designed with different learning and intelligence styles in mind, with short videos and downloadable resources to support learning.

Who is it for and what will you gain be taking part?

The content developed for Earn Your Stripes is aimed at 16-24 year olds but we encourage people of all ages to take part. With virtual modules covering topics like Scottish mammals, tracking, conservation and even wildlife activism you will gain many skills to help you champion wildlife.

Whether this your first step on the ladder to working within the conservation sector or for personal enjoyment, you will also gain lots of transferable skills to help you thrive in work & life. This includes skills to support your wellbeing. You can gain a certificate by completing a short self-assessment and review of your challenges undertaken.
