As the days get shorter & temperatures drop, winter migrants start to arrive. Already numbers of geese are increasing & the first Whooper swan arrived on Friday. Barnacle, Pinkfoot & Greylag geese are also now present on the loch. A number of hybrid crosses have also been sighted. Numbers of Great Crested Grebes have dramatically increased. Moorhens & Little Grebes have also been spotted today. Some summer visitors are still present however & many swallows & house martins were taking advantage of insects over the loch.

There has been tremendous treecreeper activity at the observation window of the visitor centre along with Great Spotted Woodpeckers, Siskin & Pheasants.

Our Autumn Equinox Weekend has been a great success so far & there will be another Family Fun Day tomorrow Sunday 22^nd September from 11.00 until 16.00 with nature trails, crafts & a quiz. There is no need to book so just come along. Usual visitor charges apply.
