Perthshire has been delightful today with blue skies & bright sunshine. Blue YZ has been well provided for by our male osprey with a pike at 12.30hrs & a very large “5 to 5” salmon. This has become something of a ritual & although we can never say with any certainty the time that our male will bring a fish to the nest, over the past months he has often arrived with a fish just before 17.00hrs.

There have been 4 migrating ospreys spotted over the loch today, another reminder that our male will set off shortly, as will Blue YZ. Jays have been out in force this evening at the feeders in front of the visitor centre. Many juvenile birds are gaining independence & searching for food on their own. Please can I remind you to leave out shallow dishes of water for your garden birds – this can be a life saver for them in this continuing dry spell of weather.

Today was the Birnam Highland Games near Dunkeld. Scottish Wildlife Trust took a stand & it was great to see so many friends & members. Children enjoyed our art activities whilst the adults attempted our bird ID quiz with a prize of a bird feeder. The winner will be announced shortly.

Although the day was beautiful & dry we were most unfortunate for both of our awnings to be wrenched from their well pegged positions in sudden gales & ceremonially deposited next to the route to the car park!

With this glorious weather set to continue into next week, why not take the opportunity to visit us here at Lowes & maybe see our ospreys before they set off on their migration?
