All our ospreys have spent most of the day sheltering from the strong winds. The male brought a good sized grilse to the nest at 09.35 which the female soon seized & Blue YZ took charge of a second fish shortly before 2pm. Blue YZ had a number of short flights around the loch &now has her own favourite branches for perching so if she is not at the nest, we know where to look for her. The female will commence her migration very shortly so the male will continue to provide fish for Blue YZ. She may also start to catch fish for herself in the coming days & weeks.

There will be an Optics Event at Loch of the Lowes Visitor Centre tomorrow, 4^th August, hosted by Opticron. Visitors will have the opportunity to try a range of binoculars, scopes & accessories for themselves & enjoy the wildlife on the reserve.

Another event for 24^th August between 2pm & 3pm will be an illustrated talk by Alan Stewart, a retired policeman & published author. It will give us a fascinating insight into his 40 year career as Wildlife Crime Officer for Tayside. Normal Visitor Centre charges apply.
