Webcam Update 1st April

A message from our Technical team:

We are aware a few people are having problems accessing the webcam. Firstly please ensure you are accessing it through the actual Scottish Wildlife Trust website: scottishwildlifetrust.org.uk/things-to-do/wildlife-webcams/loch-of-lowes/ . It is also a good idea to refresh your bookmarks/favourites and ensure your browser is up to date. We are looking into some reports of problems with some Ipads and android devices.

We apologise for the deterioration in sound quality from the microphone on the nest- in calm weather it works at treat but it doesn’t seem able to cope with windy weather here in the Highlands!  Unfortunately the cable to our usual microphone has been gnawed through and had to be replaced by a stop-gap solution at short notice. With birds now arrived back at the nest we will not get a chance to switch these back over until the birds depart again in a few months’ time as we cannot disturb them on the nest – it would be illegal and unethical to do so.

We are still ironing out a few technical problems on site which is normal for any new operational system being installed. Rest assured our technical staff have been hard at work resolving these issues as they arise.

During this exciting and busy time, we thank you all for your kind words of support.
