After a quiet morning, things started to pick up with a fish delivery from the male just before 2pm. Unfortunately, we couldn’t tell what the fish was, as the camera controls aren’t currently working – we will try to fix them asap! Following this, the chick has been on and off the nest throughout the afternoon, hoping for a second helping from dad.

We had a sighting of a jay this morning, flying over the visitor centre, and two jays appeared at the feeding station yesterday. On the feeders, we have had several squirrels stuffing themselves on nuts, and chaffinch numbers have exploded in the last couple of weeks. We also have a family of pheasants staying around the feeders – definitely the best place for them to be at the moment!

Aside from a few swans and the usual mallards, our juvenile pochard has made another appearance near the hides. Further out, six young goosander have been seen swimming around in a group.
