Blue 44 our young Loch of the Lowes osprey, is showing no signs of moving on from his ideal wintering spot in Southern France. Yesterday he paid a short visit to the more southerly of the two lakes, Etang Noir, but otherwise has been resident around Etang Blanc now almost continuously since the 14th of September. Whilst we cannot know if he will spend the whole winter here, or if this is an extended ‘stop-over’, we hope its the former, as there are several of us who would like to go and visit him over the winter to see for ourselves the area and meet the rangers tasked with looking after the lakes and their wildlife.

As the map is now getting very cluttered around this area, and to make it easier to use , we won’t be publishing every single data point , perhaps just one a day, or the ones where he does something more unusual- unless of course he decides to move on. We will of course continue to check his data and store all the imtimate detials so these can be studied carefully.

By contrast Blue YD is still on the move in northern Senegal, seemingly enjoying his time on the Senegal river and its tributaries. He seems to be doing some local exploring- perhaps for the best fishing spots. Whether he will move on to the coast ( or even another country) remains to be seen.
