Wow what a day, as I write we’ve just had some great views of the egg with much more shell off and we can see the chick inside. There are several cracks on the egg showing there’s more shell about to come off.

Through out the day, as you’ll have seen from Emma’s blogs, we’ve been watching closely as the hole has got bigger and we’ve seen the little beak poking through. At one point our female jumped at bit when she was incubating and I think she got a bit of a jab from the chick. She is very fidgety getting up and down constantly shuffling and turning the eggs. He on the other hand doesn’t seem to be aware anything is different!

They’ve both incubated today but she has been doing the bulk of it as you’d expect but he has been bringing in the fish with two deliveries making it 5 in the last 30 hours.

We’re working on uploading the video footage and still pictures of the hatching to the blog and YouTube and we’ll get these posted as soon as we can.

Stop Press: things progressed very quickly this evening and by about 6.30pm it was obvious this wee chick was on the home straight: the whole top of the egg came off and it pushed its way into the world at 7.12pm. Welcome to the world little osprey!
