Wildlife Diary 5th November : Ever Tried Tweeting?
A glorious misty morning here at Loch of the Lowes today with Greylag geese on the water, and redpoll on the feeders, the highlights so far. Our wee rescued Hedgehog has survived the night and is doing well- we will be getting it expertly assessed today to see if it is suitable for release straight away or if it might need to remain in care for the winter.
Have you ever tried Tweeting? Did you know that the Scottish Wildlife Trust Perthshire Ranger, Emma Rawling, is now on Twitter? You can get updates on wildlife sightings and news, as well as notice of upcoming events at Loch of the Lowes and the other Perthshire reserves straight from the horses mouth.
For those of you who don’t know about it, Twitter allows you to sign up to ‘follow’ people or organisations you are interested in, and to receive their short mini news bulletins (just 140 letters) either to your computer or mobile phone as you choose. It does not cost anything to join and is very easy to use. The beauty of Twitter is that the ranger and staff can compose and send these messages from anywhere via mobile phone so they won’t need to be near a computer to share exciting things with you if you follow us on Twitter.
Please be assured this will not be instead of news posted on this Blog, but in addition, and I will always try to follow up tweets with more in depth discussions here on the Blog, so you won’t be missing out of you don’t use Twitter. I won’t be Tweeting everyday, or sending out lots of garbage or advertising, just tasty nuggets of local wildlife news as they happen.
To follow us on Twitter, simple go to: www.Twitter.com and create a user account if you don’t already have one. Then click on “who to follow” and type in @SWTLowesRanger, then click “Follow”- it’s that easy! If you’d like to receive my tweets direct to your mobile phone, simply click on the wee phone symbol as well.
We hope you will enjoy this additional service from your ranger and getting more wildlife news from the Scottish Wildlife Trust.
