Loch of the Lowes Wildlife Blog 26th February 2011

Morning folks!

All is quiet and sunny at Lowes on my last day. As I arrived this morning I watched a skein of Canada Geese fly over the hides and settle on the far end of the Loch. I also heard the the dry whistle of a few wigeon mixed with the wet slapping calls of Goldeneye.

It has been a real pleasure getting to know all of you in person or through the blog. Thanks so much for all your supportive comments and good  wishes, they have been very much appreciated. You have all helped to make my first ever Osprey season a really exciting and memorable one. Bring on the next one then!

If you’ve visited Lowes you’ll know that the atmosphere of the place can be spellbinding at the best of times- it doesn’t take long before the peaceful aura of the place sinks under your skin. I am going to miss it dearly. I will drop by from time to time and I won’t be too far away (no prizes for guessing where I’m going!) and will be keeping a close eye out for our Lady or Grandmother Lowes as I call her.

I’m also going to miss our feathered friends here and for all the entertainment they’ve provided me over the last 8 months, particularly on those miserable days when no sane creature should be outside I thought they deserved a little treat.

Without further ado, here’s my final parting gesture.
