Loch of the Lowes Wildlife Blog 24th February 2011
Good morning bloggers!
Finally we have clear skies here which means we may even be able to see some wildlife! Yesterday the mist cleared off the loch at about 4 pm, allowing shards of weak sunlight to penetrate through the ghostly haze. As the mist gradually cleared a huge group of 60 Black Headed Gulls were unveiled, squabbling and dive bombing each other on a patch of ice.
Guess what made my day yesterday? I finally saw our ‘resident’ Lesser Redpoll sat at the feeder, accompanied by a female! Super!
Unfortunately he wasn’t being particularly gentlemanly in sharing his patch of the nyger seed feeder and often tried to fight her off!
