And so January draws to a close…

It is eerily quiet here at Loch of the Lowes this morning. The skies are overcast and birdsong is at a premium.

There were only 5 (I repeat 5!) mallards & 2 female pheasants hanging around the feeding station as I filled up.

On a more positive note I did spot a lovely looking Jay flying along the line of trees between the visitor centre & the main car park. These most glamorous members of the crow family are actually quite difficult to see despite their colourful plumage, as they rarely venture far from cover. Their screaming call can often be the only give-away of their presence.

The loch remains mostly frozen although its meant to be milder & wetter this week so lets hope for a thaw.
