Loch of the Lowes Wildlife Blog 23rd January 2011
Morning everyone,
Its certainly a milder morning than yesterday and whilst large areas of the loch are still frozen over the ice is looking less frosty & more glassy than in previous days.
Wildfowl numbers are slowly on the rise – I counted 30 or so Canada geese, 8 Goldeneye & a resplendent male Teal as I opened up the Crannog hide earlier. It would be nice if some of the Whooper swans that were around in early December returned.
I visited Montrose Basin yesterday for the first time, which I would thoroughly recommend to anyone who hasn’t been before. Lets just say we’re still some way from matching their current crop!
Have a good day,
Jonathan
