Osprey Diary 1st June

A new month and new birds? How can it be that the two osprey chicks seem to have grown so much overnight? Just yesterday they seemed to still be wee downy white things and this morning they are definately weak 2 steel grey and HUGE! Even though I am on my week off ( recovering from all that nightwatch) I dare not miss a daily visit lest I wouldn’t recognise our birds or miss any excitement.
One of your comments about our sister site at Loch Garten has reminded us just how lucky we are this year with both our male and the weather. The amount of sibling rivalry and squabbling has been fairly minimal because there has been plenty of fish coming in. The calm weather of the chicks first two weeks has been ideal for fishing and the male certainly has been dedicated to the task.
So far this morning we’ve had two fish deliveries, a red squirrel at the osprey nest, and one roe deer swimming the loch- Lowes is nothing if not varied!
