Osprey Diary Sunday morning 7th April – Guess who’s back?

11am update

Morning everyone

As our webcam won’t be fixed until tomorrow at the earliest I thought you’d all like an update and oh boy it’s been interesting.

8:45am The new female is back and at one point all three birds were on the nest. The male and new female were seen on the Flat Top Tree together and one of the birds looked like it was arranging nest material but we can’t be sure. It’s snowing again here making it difficult to see clearly.

10:16am The male and our regular female, affectionately known as ‘Lady’, are back on the nest together, him with a fish which he promptly flies off with. She remains on the nest and is still there. He pops back for a successful mating attempt. No sign of the new female.

I would be surprised if our regular female tolerates the new female for very long but we’ll have to see what happens. Who would have thought our clumsy male would turn out to be such a Casanova!
