Winter opening at Loch of the Lowes
As the changes in wildlife and weather that autumn brings about continue apace so too come changes in the opening times of the visitor centre here at Loch of the Lowes.
From next month until the end of February the visitor centre will be open on Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays, from 10:30am to 4pm. As always staff & volunteers will be on hand on these days to answer your questions and ensure you get the most from your visit.
Admission prices for adults, concessions and families are being reduced to reflect the shorter opening hours and as a thank you to those of you who visited us during the summer season. The new prices are as follows… Adults – £3.50; Concessions – £2.50; Families – £7 (2 Adults plus any number of children aged 16 or under)
The feeding station is at its best at this time of year with the resident populations of woodland birds joined by a whole host of winter migrants, and the red squirrels feverishly caching nuts in preparation for the cold spells that undoubtedly lie ahead. And all this can be experienced from the warmth & comfort of the viewing window whilst enjoying a relaxing hot drink – who could ask for more?!
From Monday to Thursday Emma, the Perthshire Ranger or other staff will carry out daily patrols of the reserve and ensure that the feeding station is clean & well supplied with the food that is so vital to our wildlife through the winter months. We will also endeavour to keep the hides and toilets open most days but there may be occasions when this isn’t possible so please accept our apologies in advance.
All of the staff at Loch of the Lowes are grateful for the support and kind words we have received from visitors & supporters throughout the summer season and hope to welcome you to the centre in the months ahead.
