Loch of the Lowes Wildlife Blog 9th February 2011

Morning all,

Its a rather chilly, murky, damp sort of a morning here at Loch of the Lowes today. The birds don’t seem too bothered though, chirruping and chirping away to their hearts content.

We had a little more snow overnight so everything remains white, including the loch. I’m beginning to wonder if there is actually any water under all that ice – I’ve seen little evidence so far! Today’s wildfowl count was a mere 6 Goldeneye and a Mute Swan.

After yesterday’s excitement at the feeding station we’ll be keeping a close eye out for the Lesser Redpoll in case he makes another appearance, and there was some lovely footage of a Red squirrel at the peanut feeder earlier on.

Happy blogging,

Jonathan
