Loch of the Lowes info 10 November 2010

On the way in this morning I noticed the temperature was only 2C in Perth but by the time I got to Lowes it had dropped to -3C, a chilly old morning.

It was like driving an obstacle course getting up the mile and a half from Dunkeld with all the fallow deer around , I wonder what attracts them to the road? When I finally arrived in the office at 6:30am I was greeted by a chaffinch who had been locked in for the night. I bet it was glad of the heat. I was surprised it had not set off our alarm system as the last time I was called out in the middle of the night was for a Poplar Hawk Moth flying around the office. The Ranger at the time had the moth trap out the night before but in the morning the weather was so bad that she took the trap inside to identify what she had caught and guess what one got away. I will never forget that walk up to Lowes from Dunkeld at 4am.

Have a good day
Peter
