Webcam Update and Advice 13th April

The switch-over to the new web streaming provider has now been completed – thanks again for your patience whilst this work was carried out.

There may be further short periods of disruption over the next few weeks as we will be installing some new hardware which we hope will improve the picture quality.

Jonathan

We hope you are getting on OK with the version of the Webcam streaming service from all three of the Scottish Wildlife Trust webcam locations.

The switch over to a new hosting provider for our service has been done to try to resolve some of the intermittent faults we’ve been having and provide a better, more secure, and reliable service for our online cameras. We realise any transition can have a few hitches, but we hope the end result will be a better service for everyone- and no one should loose service.

There are still a few things to be tweaked – for example there are a few pieces of hardware which are on order and will be added in the next week or so, and we hope these will help improve the quality of the picture. Please bear with us during this interim stage.

If you are having trouble viewing our webcams, our technical department advise you try the following on your computer to ensure you are using up to date and secure software which will stream the pictures properly.

Firstly, check your computer is running on Windows XP/Vista/7/8, or Mac OS- these are the main up to date operating systems most computers now have. Older versions may not be compatible.

Secondly, make sure your web browser is up to date or try a different browser- the program that opens the internet for you. The main ones are Google Chrome, Internet Explorer 7, Firefox 17.0, or Safari and many of these are these are available free online to update.

If once you have checked these, you are still having problems, please let us know here: ospreys@swt.org.uk and we will try our very best to help you with advice.

Once again, we apologise if your webcam viewing has been interrupted or affected- we hope this will help have you back on line enjoying the webcams.
