Montrose Wildlife Watch Group

*Montrose Wildlife Watch group is opening again in June 2021! Please get in touch to find out more*

The Montrose Wildlife Watch group arranges a variety of fun activities and events for children aged 6 to 12. From nature trails to scavenger hunts, arts and crafts to fungal forays, there are loads of cool ways to get closer to wildlife in your area.

At the moment the whole session will take place outside – so please dress for the weather.

What we do

The Montrose Wildlife Watch group meets once a month at the Trust’s Montrose Basin Visitor Centre. All of the events are suitable for ages 6 to 12, and activities usually cost £1 per session. All sessions are outdoors and start at Montrose Basin Visitor Centre unless otherwise stated.

How to get involved

If you would like to come along to any of our events, please book ahead as places are limited. For further information on activities or on joining the Scottish Wildlife Trust please call the Centre on 01674 676336 or email

Muddy Adventure

We will meet outside and plan to head down to the shore to have a muddy adventure, looking for creatures and shells as we go. We’ll end up at the new “mud kitchen” area outside the Visitor Centre.

Join us for a pond dipping session before making your very own boat! We’ll then race them around the pond – do you think you could win?
