What’s your impact?
Our impact report, published in March 2017, takes this question and looks at it from different perspectives. Firstly, what impact are humans having on the planet? Secondly, what impact is the Scottish Wildlife Trust having on nature in Scotland? And finally, what can we all do to have a positive impact in the future?
This impact report came about as a result of our support from players of People’s Postcode Lottery. Through this longstanding relationship, we have been encouraged to look hard at the impact we are making and get even better at understanding the impact we can have.
Below gives you an idea of what impact the players of People’s Postcode Lottery have helped us achieve.
In 2016, players helped ensure strong foundations for the Scottish Wildlife Trust’s work by enabling us to invest in better IT and continue to support our members, including launching a new programme of Impact Awards for local groups.
The Scottish Wildlife Trust is even more focused on impact thanks to support from players of People’s Postcode Lottery in 2016, which helped us develop an ambitious new five-year work programme and our first ever impact report.
In 2016, players helped protect over 250 nationally and internationally important habitats and species, including 90,000 pink footed geese in Montrose, through the maintenance of the Scottish Wildlife Trust’s 120 wildlife reserves.
Players’ support for the research carried out through the Scottish Beaver Trial helped secure a historic decision in 2016 to allow this keystone species to stay in Scotland, which will bring significant long-term benefits for wildlife and people.
Support from players in 2016 enabled the Trust to inspire decision-makers of the future, helping them connect with nature through our network of over 30 Wildlife Watch groups across Scotland.
More than 300,000 people were inspired by our famous osprey webcam at Loch of the Lowes in 2016, thanks to support from players of People’s Postcode Lottery, who also helped to ensure this iconic bird is protected for the future.
