There was a plenty of excitement at the Peregrine Watch yesterday, with plenty more mating, and calling it has been a noisy affair at the site lately. Second, only to the pairs courtship antics where the alarms calls from the tiercel (male) when a buzzard came and perched in a tree on eyrie (nest ledge) side of the gorge. The tiercel began a territorial threat display; circling low overhead and alarm calling very loudly, although he did not challenge the buzzard directly, the intruder soon left after a few minutes.

A second buzzard, perhaps the same bird, flew into the gorge later in the afternoon, but this time the falcon (female) was also present and both peregrines soon chased the buzzard away, before it had chance to settle.

We are still eagerly anticipating the first egg of the season; maybe we will have one in just in time for the Easter weekend.
