The Wildlife Trusts are very lucky to receive generous support from players of People's Postcode Lottery. People's Postcode Lottery is a charity lottery in Great Britain where players play with their postcodes to win cash prizes whilst raising money for charities. A minimum of 30% from every £2 ticket goes directly to good causes like us.
In 2017 The Wildlife Trusts have been fortunate to receive £2.4million in funding from players of People’s Postcode Lottery to support our work across England, Scotland and Wales.
During the year, thanks to the support of players of People’s Postcode Lottery, The Wildlife Trusts will inspire and connect people to nature through precious species and wild places, provide thousands of children of all ages with opportunities to spend time in nature through a series of Forest School and outdoor learning activities and will stand up for and defend wild places when they face significant threat.
Support from players helps us maintain a network of 120 wildlife reserves throughout Scotland and develop ground-breaking new projects that take conservation beyond the reserve boundaries.
Funding from players helps to educate and inspire tens of thousands of adults and children at our four visitor centres. It also helps us to protect threatened wildlife including ospreys at Loch of the Lowes in Perthshire, and peregrine falcons at Falls of Clyde.
Funding from players helps us to employ rangers who are ambassadors for wildlife and undertake practical conservation work. These include our Falkirk Ranger Clare Toner, who runs regular events across five reserves to help connect local people with wildlife.
