Volunteering is at the heart of the Scottish Wildlife Trust’s work. More than 1,000 volunteers are working with us to help protect Scotland’s wildlife for the future.

Our Trustees’ Awards for Volunteering celebrate the broad range of activities carried out by our volunteers, and the enormous impact that they have on the Trust’s work.

In 2022 there are four categories, including awards for groups and young people. The winners of each award will be announced at our Annual General Meeting on Saturday 10 September.

Categories

Young volunteer

Awarded to a volunteer aged 18-30 who has made a significant positive difference to Scotland’s wildlife at a local or national level.

Group award

Awarded to a group of volunteers whose collective work has made a significant positive difference to Scotland’s wildlife at a local or national level.

Species champion

Presented to a volunteer who has championed a single species and made a significant contribution to its conservation at a local or national level.

Lifetime achievement

Awarded to a volunteer who has demonstrated great commitment and dedication to wildlife conservation over many years.

Terms and Conditions

1. Nominations for the Trustees’ Awards for Volunteering will be reviewed by Trustees (“Council”) by email. They will collectively reach a decision on who should receive this year’s awards, based on the information provided. The decision of the Trustees will be final.
2. Nominees must be volunteers who have made a significant contribution to achieving the Trust’s vision while working on behalf of the Trust.
3. This is an opportunity to recognise some of the valuable work being undertaken by volunteers, but should not be interpreted as a competition to identify the ‘best’ volunteers. Trustees are aware that there will be an enormous breadth of valuable work being carried out by volunteers which does not feature in the awards.
4. There are no cash prizes; the main benefit of receiving an award will be knowing that a contribution has been valued and that the awards are helping to celebrate the importance of volunteering within the Trust.
5. Awards will be announced by the Chair at the online Annual General Meeting on Saturday 10 September 2022. Anyone who is unable to, or does not wish to, attend the AGM can still be a recipient. There will be no speeches from recipients at the event, but the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award will be profiled in the November issue of Scottish Wildlife magazine.
