Trust urges action on biodiversity loss and climate change

Commenting on tonight’s speech to the Royal Society of Edinburgh by the Chief Executive of Scottish Natural Heritage, which has been previewed in the media, our Chief Executive Jo Pike said: “We wholeheartedly agree with Francesca Osowska that urgent action is needed to tackle both climate change and biodiversity loss.

“We need to restore Scotland’s natural environment on a larger scale than ever before. Not only to save nature, but also to address the climate emergency.

“We urge the Scottish Government to put funding and policies in place to make this world-leading ambition a reality.

“As a priority this must include reforming land use and subsidies that damage our natural environment, and introducing a bold economic strategy that delivers the transformative change required.”
