What we do

The Dumfries & Galloway Group supports the work of the Trust at a local level. We do this by:

  • organising a programme of talks and walks
  • raising funds
  • publicising the work of the Trust
  • promoting the establishment of local wildlife sites
  • engaging with environmental and conservation issues through the local planning system

How to get involved

Volunteers can help with:

  • Hospitality at meetings and talks
  • Practical conservation work on our reserves
  • Collecting money for the Trust at events
  • Reporting wildlife sightings to the local records centre

Where and when?

Where we meet

A regular programme of talks are held during the winter illustrating local wildlife and highlighting conservation issues. In summer there is a varied programme of outdoor events which show-off our region's fabulous wildlife.

Indoor talks are held at 7.30pm in the Gordon Memorial Hall, Castle Douglas. The hall is located adjacent to St Ninian's Church on the B736 Castle Douglas - Gelston road, 350 metres from the town centre.
