Our Chief Executive Jonny Hughes will leave the Trust at the end of March 2019 following his appointment as Chief Executive of the World Conservation Monitoring Centre (WCMC).
Jonny was appointed as our Chief Executive in 2014. He said: “The Trust has been a huge part of my life since 1991, when I first volunteered to identify ants collected by the late Bob Saville. I went on to enjoy a number of roles, including Seasonal Warden of the now threatened Loch Fleet and Coul Links reserves, Head of Policy, and Director of Conservation.
“I look forward to working with our Chair and Council to ensure a smooth transition towards a refreshed leadership team. The Trust’s strong foundations will ensure it remains resilient and effective during this period of change.”
Our Chair Linda Rosborough said: “Jonny has made an enormous contribution to the Trust over many years, combining a first-rate knowledge of the natural world with the vision and energy to safeguard and restore it. For the last five years he has been an inspirational leader and a superb ambassador for the Trust. We wish him well in his new role with WCMC, and we are pleased and proud he will be carrying on his leadership at a global level at a critical time for biodiversity.”
