Golden leaves, deer and ducks!

It’s been a beautiful autumn week-end with mild temperatures, sunny spells and sweet scented air. A big thank you to the rangers from Scottish Deer Centre for sharing their interesting information with visitors and bringing a fabulous array of deer pelts, antlers and exhibits to Loch of the Lowes. To me (and many others) the most fascinating part of the display were the velvet covered antlers. So perfect, close textured and soft that they appeared to be real velvet – very well named (which was named first, the man-made material or the fine covering on antlers?)

Skeins of calling geese are winging their way south and the leaves and fields are turning golden, we are in no doubt that autumn has arrived.
