It has been a busy day here at the Visitor Centre in terms of raptor sightings. At around 12pm a visitor spotted a White-Tailed Eagle sitting out on the mud. After further inspection from all the eager eyes in the Visitor Centre, we spotted a yellow wing tag, indicating a 2010 release. Unfortunately the lettering on the tag couldn’t be deciphered, so we were unable to identify the individual. After half an hour sitting on the mud, the eagle flew off into the trees at the Lurgies, where we think it has remained.  As well as the White Tailed Eagle we have also had a Peregrine Falcon sitting on the telegraph poles in front of the centre and a Kestrel that kindly hovered right in front of the Centre windows.
