“Moth night and butterfly transect Clyde Valley reserve 26th May. Almost the last good day of the summer. A Japanese visitor attended and could not believe he was in Scotland as the weather was so good. An excellent haul of moths most appreciated by a 12 year old boy, who much enjoyed setting the creatures free; although he managed to persuade a few to travel home with him to North Lanarkshire, where they were released in his garden. I believe he now wants his own moth trap.

Glasgow Natural History Society visit to Nethan reserve 10th August. Several moth traps were set up overnight. Another good day, warm and sunny. Over 50 species of moths, including several species I had not seen before. The Dotted Carpet and Slender Brindle were especially memorable. The latter is a moth which has only recently moved into Scotland, so it was good to see it in such a central location.”
