Marvellous mowers
A walk through the meadow at the moment will give you the opportunity to meet two of our seasonal volunteers. Dan and April are dedicated to mowing the grass in the meadow.
This helps keep the habitat just right for meadow plants by stopping the encroachment of scrub. Open patches of ground, such as a meadow, can quickly be colonised by plants like bramble, bracken, or saplings. If these started to grow, they would make conditions too shady for the beautiful flowers and grasses that make the meadow a meadow.
So keep an eye out for April (short with grey hair) and Dan (tall, with white hair, has been confused with a unicorn). You can even stop for a chat, but being ponies you may not get much of a response. . .
Bye for now,
Rhian (Seasonal Ranger)
