Falls fortnight

The Falls of Clyde are spectacular at any time of the year and in all conditions. At low water, the craggy rocks create a diverse backdrop for the water flowing over the huge drops that make the falls so impressive.

During high water periods, the sheer volume of water cascading over the falls is a sight and sound to behold. Normally these conditions only occur after a day or more of heavy rain, especially if the ground is already wet.

From the 14th May, however, Scottish Power will be taking the power station offline for two weeks. This means water will not be taken from the river to power the hydroelectric station, so whatever the weather the falls will be in full flow.

A visit to the reserve in the last two weeks of May could give you spectacular views of Corra Linn and Bonnington Linn, like the photograph above, so don’t miss out!

See you soon,
