The two chicks are growing quickly!

The two chicks are doing well at the peregrine nest and are really growing quickly. The difference between them now and when they hatched is incredible. The falcon is now finding it difficult to incubate the last egg and keep the ever increasing chicks covered and warm. She frequently rearranges herself and tries to get comfortable.

The last egg has still not hatched. Hopefully it will hatch soon otherwise there will be a significant size difference between the chicks.

The tiercel has been doing all the hunting and has brought in pigeon and starling and the falcon has fed them up to 4 times a day whilst we have been here. It is an amazing sight to watch the falcon feed the chicks. She frequently calls to them as she feeds.

The tiercel brought back a pigeon on bank holiday Monday and stored it for later in one of their larders where they store the prey items. The falcon then took the pigeon out of the larder and fed herself on a rock ledge before she fed the chicks. The photo below shows the falcon feeding on the pigeon.
