Second Egg for Osprey Pair at Loch of the Lowes

What a treat for the Easter weekend, with the second osprey egg being laid at 9:39am on a stunning morning at Loch of the Lowes. The female osprey NC0 (named according to the blue ‘Darvic’ colour ring on her leg), gave out a couple of squeaks and grunts before laying the beautiful mottled egg.

It wasn’t long before her mate LM12 flew in to inspect the situation. He looked keen to take over incubation duties, but NC0 was having none of it!

Following the trend of the last two seasons NC0 has laid her first two eggs three days apart. Ospreys usually lay a clutch of three eggs, though four have been known to be laid on occasion. All being well, we can ‘eggs’pect the next egg to be laid some time between Easter Sunday and Monday.
