LM12 returns to Loch of the Lowes

After the initial excitement yesterday of an unidentified young male osprey landing briefly on our nest and surveying the loch before heading off, we thought we had seen all of the osprey action for the day!

That was until later that evening when one of our eagle eyed volunteers saw another osprey arrive at the reserve shortly after 5pm with a fish. Whilst he did not land on the nest until 6.27am this morning, we believe it was LM12 who had arrived yesterday evening.

His characteristic chest markings and long wing tips could easily be seen on our camera in the early hours, and the nest building behaviour witnessed confirm he is making himself at home again for the coming season.

Keep checking the blog for any updates, and hopefully our male won’t have to wait too long for his partner LF15 to arrive!
