Central Borders Group – committee members

Title: Committee member

Status: Occasional

Location: Largely home based

Closing date: no closing date and we will contact people as they express interest

The Central Borders Group is run by a committee of volunteers, several of whom have been part of the committee for many years, and in order for the group to continue we need to find new committee members. We are also looking for a new secretary.

Between us we organise and run a programme of summer walks and winter talks. The talks take place in Galashiels, and the walk locations vary and are chosen to explore different parts of the Borders. This is a great opportunity to get involved in promoting the local area and its diverse wildlife.

If you are interested and would like to find out more about the committee please contact us

Committee membership would suit people of any age but we’d especially like to see more involvement from young people, perhaps looking to add experience of volunteering at a management level to their CV.

What we are looking for:

  • availability to join committee meetings (held approx. 4-5 times per year (in the Gala/Ashkirk/Selkirk area)
  • attend and help organise walks and talks
  • help at our display stand at local events

What you will get in return:

  • chance to have a say in the activities of the Group
  • deliver added benefits through group activities to local members
  • get involved in the wider work of the Scottish Wildlife Trust
