There are now just 22 days to go before the early bird booking deadline for the World Forum on Natural Capital, which will take place in Edinburgh at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre on 21st and 22nd of November.
The programme content and speaker line up promise to make this event a landmark in the debate surrounding natural capital. Potential delegates should take the opportunity to make the most of the 15% discount available by signing up before Thursday 12 September.
The World Forum on Natural Capital will be the world’s first major global conference devoted to natural capital and will bring together business and sustainability leaders from around the world to help identify clear courses of action to address opportunities and risks.
A rapidly growing number of business leaders are recognising that we rely on our natural capital – the world’s natural resources such as water, forests and fish stocks – to provide goods and services vital to economic activity and human well-being (including food, carbon storage and natural flood defences).
However, we are depleting this natural capital at an unprecedented rate and this is causing new risks for business, including price volatility, potential regulation and reputational damage for those that are unprepared.
The event is being organised by the Scottish Wildlife Trust in association with the United Nations Environment Programme; World Business Council for Sustainable Development; International Union for Conservation of Nature; TEEB for Business Coalition and The Wildlife Trusts.
Attendance at the Word Forum will provide:
- An understanding of impacts and dependencies relating to natural capital
- An insight into how companies can create competitive advantage by tackling the challenge
- Tools for long-term decision making, better management of resources and improved management of emerging risks
- A chance to network with the leading players and help shape the debate in advance of any regulation
- Knowledge to help meet the growing expectations of customers and shareholders
