The Scottish Wildlife Trust has urged the Government to put high quality greenspace at the heart of placemaking. The call has come on the final day of the Scottish Government consultation on a policy for architecture and placemaking for Scotland.
The new policy wants Scotland to create successful buildings and places where people want to be. The Scottish Wildlife Trust believes that getting the 'green' space right around the ‘grey’ can make or break the ambience of a place.
Dr Maggie Keegan, the Trust's National Planning Co-ordinator said:
“It is no secret that attractive places where people want to live their lives have a combination of good ‘grey’ design and beautiful natural features which connect people to nature on their doorstep. As high quality greenspace is valued by the people of Scotland and contributes to increased health and wellbeing we do hope that ‘green' design is given as high a priority as ‘grey’ in this new policy.”
