Free entry to wildlife visitor centres is set to encourage Scots to spend St. Andrew’s Day spotting some of Scotland’s most iconic creatures, including red squirrels and pink-footed geese.Â
To celebrate St. Andrew’s Day, the Scottish Wildlife Trust (SWT) has teamed up with the People’s Postcode Lottery to offer free entry into any of its three wildlife visitor centres.
A wide selection of native Scottish wildlife may be enjoyed at all SWT visitor centres, located across the country. At Loch of the Lowes, near Dunkeld, visitors have the opportunity to watch red squirrels close-up and may even spot deer from the hides, while Montrose Basin flourishes in winter-time, as thousands of pink-footed geese descend daily on the Basin.    Â
Simply present a copy of the Postcode News, People’s Postcode Lottery’s own newspaper, or download the voucher from http://www.postcodelottery.com/web/show/id=363871 to enjoy local Scottish wildlife for free this November 30.Â
SWT is one of three official charities of the People’s Postcode Lottery, Scotland’s own charity lottery, which divides cash prizes between players in postcode areas while helping worthy causes in Scotland. 40p from each ticket sold goes direct to Scottish charities. In only 11 months, the lottery has raised over £330,000 for the Scottish Wildlife Trust.Â
People’s Postcode Lottery is also celebrating St. Andrew’s Day with a ‘Postcode Belter’, offering players a chance to win a share of £1 Million, the biggest prize pot to date.Â
SWT Chief Executive, Simon Milne, said: “St. Andrew’s Day is an ideal time to appreciate and celebrate Scotland’s native wildlife. We are delighted to team up with People’s Postcode Lottery to offer free entry to our visitor centres on Scotland’s national day.
“We are very grateful for the support we receive from People’s Postcode Lottery. It really helps us with our work to protect Scotland’s wildlife for the future.â€
Claire Stewart, Charities Manager from People’s Postcode Lottery, said: “The People’s Postcode Lottery is proud to support the Scottish Wildlife Trust. We are delighted to work with the Trust to open their visitor centres for free on St. Andrew’s Day, bringing wildlife experiences to more people from postcodes across Scotland.â€
