A new drop-in workshop to exhibit the latest developments in digital camera and telescope technology to wildlife enthusiasts and photographers is to be held at the Scottish Wildlife Trust’s Montrose Basin Visitor Centre next Wednesday (24 March).
Hosted by special guests from Viking Optical, the exclusive suppliers of digital equipment to the RSPB, the full-day event is suitable for anyone interested in learning more about new digital technology and how it can be used to photograph Scotland’s wildlife.
The Scottish Wildlife Trust’s Montrose Basin Visitor Centre Manager Caroline Hendry said: “Digiscoping is the techniques and technology which allows digital photographs to be taken using a spotting scope, telescope or even binoculars. By learning about this art, wildlife lovers could have the ability to take some truly stunning images which wouldn’t be possible through traditional photographic methods. Digiscoping also allows sightings to be recorded without disturbing the animal or its habitat.
”We are very excited to have a representative from Viking Optical along to provide an exhibition of the latest digital technology available. By providing a display of equipment, available to trial and test out, along with expert advice and useful tips, we hope that visitors will leave our drop-in session with a comprehensive knowledge of digiscoping and the know-how and enthusiasm to get outdoors and snapping beautiful images of Scotland’s inspiring wildlife.
“A range of equipment will be available to buy to help new users take up this rewarding new hobby.”
The Trust’s Digiscoping Drop-in Day will run from 10.30 am to 5 pm on Wednesday 24 March at Montrose Basin Visitor Centre. For further information contact Visitor Centre Manager Caroline Hendry on 01674 676336 or email chendry@swt.org.uk.
