The Scottish Government released The Land Use Strategy today. Here's what we think:

Tony King, Scottish Wildlife Trust’s Head of Policy, commented: “The Land Use Strategy passes some tests and fails others.  The Scottish Wildlife Trust is pleased that there are to be annual reviews of implementation, but disappointed that there is to be no stakeholder forum.  We are pleased that land should be managed for multiple benefit, but disappointed that the government has chosen to ignore the recommendation of a committee of senior MSPs to properly address ecological coherence.  Whether the Strategy will make a real difference remains to be seen and we urge MSPs to ensure that Ministers, whatever the outcome of the election, look again at the Strategy with a view to making improvements.”
