To celebrate Remember a Charity Week this week, the Scottish Wildlife Trust are opening their Visitor Centres to the public, free of charge on Saturday 17th September.
The Visitor Centres, at Loch of the Lowes (Dunkeld), Falls of Clyde (New Lanark) and Montrose Basin, usually cost between £2 and £4 for adults and are free for members of the Scottish Wildlife Trust.
Remember a Charity Week is a range of events across the UK to promote the importance of leaving gifts to charities when writing a Will.
Legacies are incredibly important to the Scottish Wildlife Trust. Last year, half of our management work on 121 wildlife reserves across Scotland was paid for by legacies, generously left in people’s Wills.
Commenting, Scottish Wildlife Trust Chief Executive Simon Milne said:
“The Scottish Wildlife Trust relies on legacies for so much of its work.
“We can continue our vital work on wildlife reserves across Scotland if people remember us in their Will.
“I hope this promotion will remind people what Scottish wildlife means to them and they will remember the Scottish Wildlife Trust when they sit down to write their Will.”
Most people donate to charities during their lifetime. When asked, 35% of people surveyed said they would be happy to include a gift to charity in their Will, but only 7% currently do so.
