Nature’s Feast for the Senses Guided Evening Walk on the Spey Bay Wildlife Reserve

On Friday 4th June 2010 from 7-9pm the Scottish Wildlife Trust (SWT) will lead visitors onto the Spey Bay Reserve to discover nature’s feast for the senses.  We will see, hear, feel and even taste our way around the reserve and will uncover some useful foraging tips!

This event is suitable for all adults and children aged 8+ who would like to experience the natural world with all of their senses with many activities to enjoy along the way. The walk starts at the WDCS Wildlife Centre in Spey Bay, and follows the riverside path past wetland areas and through woodland. SWT Spey Bay Ranger, Laura Smith said: “Nature is full of different colours, textures, tastes and sounds but we don’t often notice them.  We hope that after this walk, people will start to experience the world in a new and exciting way!”

The SWT Spey Bay wildlife reserve is home to a huge variety of wildlife from ospreys and terns, salmon and seals, roe deer and otters to willow, meadowsweet and sweet cicely all of which can provide us with a sensory feast to enjoy.  The SWT work to conserve and re-build nature on their reserves and promote enjoyment and understanding of the outdoors.

For people who are unable to attend the evening walk, or are visiting for the whole day, short guided walks on the reserve are available every day from the WDCS Wildlife Centre at 3.15 pm where a shop, exhibition and café are also available.

This event is free, but booking is essential.  To book a place, please contact the Spey Bay Ranger, Laura Smith on 01343 820339 or email on lsmith@swt.org.uk.  Please arrive promptly at 7 pm, dress for the weather and bring binoculars if you have them.
