Kids get crafty to help local winter wildlife

A family fun day event set to help local wildlife thrive in Angus over winter-time is being held at the Scottish Wildlife Trust’s (SWT) Montrose Basin Visitor Centre this weekend.

To help wildlife ‘prepare for winter’, the fun day will see youngsters, helped by SWT staff and volunteers, get crafty by making their own bird feeders and animal habitats like hedgehog hideaways.

Caroline Hendry, SWT’s Montrose Basin Visitor Centre Manager, said:

“Our event on Sunday is a perfect family fun day.  Kids love our arts and crafts activities and, as they are supervised by staff and volunteers, parents can take time to relax and enjoy the wildlife on the basin.  Afterwards, the kids can take home their hard work and all the family can enjoy spotting wildlife in their very own garden over winter.

“Montrose Basin is a perfect location for local family days out and our events calendar aims to provide a variety of fun activities which the whole family can enjoy throughout the year.”

The Winter Wildlife event will be held this Sunday (25 October) from 10.30am to 5pm and costs £7.00 per family (2 adults and up to 4 children) or £3.50 per adults and £2.50 for concessions. SWT members get in for free.
