Goose breakfasts at Montrose

The pink footed geese have arrived at Montrose Basin! To celebrate their arrival, staff at the Montrose Basin Visitor Centre will be hosting the ever popular annual event – Goose Breakfasts on Sunday 9th, 16th and 23rd of October from 6.30am until 9.30am.

Enjoy the spectacle of thousands of pink-footed geese leaving Montrose Basin at dawn along with the Ranger and volunteers. Then head back to the Visitor Centre for porridge and toast. Breakfast will be followed by an optional presentation by the Ranger. Due to popular demand in previous years we are hosting this event on three dates to allow members of the public the chance to watch this amazing sight.

Caroline Hendry, Visitor Centre Manager said “This is truly one of the most exciting wildlife spectacles to be witnessed in Scotland – to watch the take off of over 65,000 pink-footed geese at dawn against a pink sunrise really is a memorable sight. The noise they make as they take off from the Montrose Basin sends shivers down your spine”

BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL for these very popular events. Cost per person £8.00. Wear stout outdoor shoes/boots and warm clothing. Bring telescope and or binoculars. Meet at the Montrose Basin Visitor Centre, Rossie Braes, Montrose, DD10 9TA.

To book: Telephone 01674 676336 or email montrosebasin@swt.org.uk
