Agri-environment schemes: public money for public good?

Agri -environment schemes are a vital source of public funding for land managers that want to do the right thing and help wildlife. There is currently a debate surrounding the amount of money that goes into these schemes and the farming community want to know what the public think.

The Farmers Weekly website is running an online poll to gauge public and farmer opinion. The Scottish Wildlife Trust believes that money should be taken from direct subsidies (i.e. money given simply for being a farmer) and put into green schemes that help wildlife.

If you would like to take part in the poll, visit the Farmers Weekly website. You will find the poll on the left-hand side.
