A green housing revolution?

Commenting on the Scottish Labour Party’s promise of a “green housing revolution”, the Scottish Wildlife Trust's Director of Conservation, Jonny Hughes said:

“It is very encouraging that politicians are taking the environmental importance of housing seriously, but it is time to take a wider perspective and look at the ecological importance of housing and urban design.  Energy efficiency and micro-generation are essential considerations, but so is designing in space for nature. 

“Wildlife-rich towns and cities are more sustainable, and better places to live.  There is plenty of evidence to show that greener, more biologically diverse neighbourhoods suffer less antisocial behaviour and result in an overall better quality of life.”
