Doug Allan: Wild Images, Wild Life
On Friday 21st July at 7.30pm the Birnam Arts Centre is hosting a very special evening in aid of Scottish Wildlife Trust and the Birnam Arts charity.
Doug Allan is one of the most instantly recognisable names from the world of natural history filmaking. More often found behind than infront of the lens, we’ll hear adventures, encounters and insights from the cameraman whose TV credits include Blue Planet, Planet Earth, Life, Human Planet, Ocean Giants and Frozen Planet.
With stories from behind the scenes, and pictures that appeal to all ages, Doug takes you up close and personal with the animals that live in the wildest places on earth. From polar bears in the north, humpback whale encounters in the tropics, on to leopard seals and emperor penguins in the south.
As Doug says “Put me eye to eye with a big mammal, then I’m in heaven.”
With photographic awards including eight Emmy’s and four BAFTA’s, Doug has twice won the underwater category in the Wildlife Photographer of the Year and has four Honorary Doctorates in recognition of his camerawork, as well as two Polar Medals.
Doug’s book will also be on sale on the night
