The Trust is and has been involved in many projects related to data in Scotland.

Browse these below.

Better Biodiversity Data Project

The Better Biodiversity Data project (BBD) is led and managed by the NBN Trust and supported by NatureScot and The Scottish Government.

The project will make a vital contribution to the delivery of the Scottish Biodiversity Strategy by securing access to the data needed to set targets and measure progress through:

  1. A nationwide partnership providing biodiversity data services on behalf of Scotland.
  2. A fit-for-purpose Data Management and Digital Services System, providing financially sustainable value-added services to users.
  3. A well-connected and functional biodiversity data community and infrastructure in Scotland, following FAIR and Open Data principles, across all sectors.

The Trust strongly supports the ambitions of this project and believes it an essential component to the delivery of the Scottish Biodiversity Strategy.

Find out more about the project and its importance for Scotland’s biodiversity by visiting the official page below or downloading the BBD leaflet.

Mapping Ecosystem Services

The “EcoServ-GIS” project, ran by The Wildlife Trusts, aimed to increase awareness about society’s reliance on ecosystem services and work towards the restoration and protection of the natural environment that underpins these services.

The Wildlife Trusts developed a GIS toolkit to help identify and map the multiple benefits of the natural environment. The Toolkit was adapted to work in a Scottish context and was funded by Scottish Natural Heritage, Scottish Environment Protection Agency and the Glasgow and Clyde Valley Green Network with initial work currently taking place in North Lanarkshire focusing on the Cumbernauld Living Landscape and the Seven Lochs Wetland Park.
