Volunteer achievements recognised by new awards

The winners of the Scottish Wildlife Trust’s inaugural Trustees’ Awards for Volunteering were revealed at our National Members’ Day in Edinburgh in September. These new awards reflect a range of contributions, including long service over many years and extraordinary accomplishments.

Our Chair Linda Rosborough said: “Our natural environment would be all the poorer if it wasn’t for the tens of thousands of hours put in by our volunteers. They do so much on the Trust’s behalf, from fighting inappropriate developments and carrying out conservation work on wildlife reserves, to serving on committees and Council and organising inspiring talks in their local areas.”

This year’s winners:

Puffin Award for Special Contribution: Willie Homer

Rusty Bog Moss Award for the most unusual achievement: Rob Asbridge

Juniper Award for Long Service: Sue Sexton and David Shenton

Orca Award for Lifetime Achievement: David Shenton
